Yellow Class’s Kathakali Mask Home Decor program is perfect for children of ages 8 to 12 years. Your children will be taught how to build a variety of masks step by step, but there will be enough room for them to express their creativity in the projects.

Learn About Famous Art Form
Kathakali is a dance form which belongs to Southern India (Kerala). In this session, kids will learn how to make a Kathakali Mask which you can use as a home décor, wall hanging etc.

Eye For Details
With minute detailing work on the Kathakali Mask, Apeksha Ma'am will help children develop an eye for detail.

Boost Creativity & Imagination
Apeksha Ma’am will help kids to channelize their inner creativity and boost imagination, as they learn about new techniques of craft making.
Apeksha is a Pottery Mentor with Yellow Class. She holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts (MFA). Her Ceramic Sculpture got selected in the most prestigious National Exhibition of Art by Lalit Kala Akademi.
Sketching And Cutting The Mask
In this session the mentor will teach kids how to make a kathakali mask for home décor. Children will also learn about sketching, and cutting the shape of the mask as a first step.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
NOTE: Adult supervision is required for use of any sharp object like scissors or compass.

Coloring The Base Colour On The Cardboard
In this session of Kathakali mask making and home décor, children will learn the second step of making a Kathakali mask, which includes outlining/sketching the mask, colouring it, and finishing it, with all of the necessary craft materials, paints, and other materials.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
NOTE: A Yellow Acrylic colour plus a drop of Red colour can be used to make an orange shade.

Finishing The Base Colour On Cardboard And Plate
In this session, students will finish colouring the rest of the mask and carefully paint the paper plate with a green colour shade.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
NOTE: You can add White Acrylic colour with a drop of the green for making a light green shade.

Making The Facial Expressions
The mentor will guide kids with completing the facial expressions and minor details on the art work. Kids will be making eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips and rest of the face on a paper plate and carefully colouring the mask.

Ornamentation And Finishing Of The Mask
The kids will finish the artwork by detailing and outlining the mask by finishing the upper and lower parts of the mask in this final session.They will be pasting the paper plate at the face of the mask and we will complete our final artwork with the help of all the craft related materials.
